In 2006, artists Zoe Walker & Neil Bromwich completed their artist's residency at Kielder Water & Forest Park with the creation of Sci-Fi Hot Tub, a highly unusual floating inflatable iceberg that contained a fully functioning hot tub. Walker & Bromwich's work often investigates rather poignant notions of a idealised world that subsequently seem unattainable, unrealistic, or simply lost when the artwork is finally presented.

Sci-Fi Hot Tub used a physical structure to investigate the idea that the public's view of modern art might change for the better when viewed from within the cosy surroundings of the hot tub.

To try and gauge the validity of this proposal, participants were asked a series of questions relating to this onshore, and then again as part of discussion groups held in the tub. A strong sense persisted in the Curator that any conclusions drawn from this interaction were as much a part of the suspension of belief as was the Tracy Island-like inflatable folly out on the lake that hosted it.
